If you have had multiple head injuries and are experiencing cognitive, physical and emotional problems long after the injury, you may have a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Symptoms may include any number of the following: memory issues or loss; difficulty concentrating; headaches; dizziness or loss of balance; fatigue or drowsiness; nausea with or without vomiting; ears ringing; trouble speaking; loss of coordination or impaired motor skills; weakness or numbness in extremities; nervousness; irritability etc.

How does acupuncture work for Brain Injury

Acupuncture causes an increase in local blood flow with a resulting increase in nutrients and immune cells. These are the ingredients for healing. There is also evidence that acupuncture tends to have a balancing effect on brain chemistry, hormone levels, and immune cell function and have a beneficial effect on the healing of the brain and /or nerves after injuries. Because the brain controls everything in the body, a balanced brain should allow for more effective healing. Acupuncture also helps reduce or get rid of the symptoms listed above.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
